Ringworm is a fungal disorder that can appear on any part of the body, but mainly it appears on the feet, scalp, groin, nails, between two fingers, etc in the form of rings or patches or even rashes. There can be many forms of ringworm, but the worst type is the scalp ringworm, which is often called as hair ringworm. It can affect people of any age, but mostly children are affected with it. Children between the ages of 4 to 14 are mostly affected because they are more likely to contract fungal infection. Fungal infection can be caused by pets such as dogs or cats. Ringworm is basically a contagious disease, so it can also be caused by close contact with the infected person, or using infected towels and clothes. Ringworm can also be caused by sharing of the hairbrush or comb, which can spread infection.
