It is essential to ensure that every child ifs given the necessary support regardless his/her social background in terms of education and other co-curricular activities. It is here that one to one private tuition becomes significant. It delivers additional support to the pupils who are not able to achieve their potential with classroom teaching. This is because the level of support required varies from child to child. Some needs to be coached in smaller groups or individually to make the progress needed to achieve their full potential. Here are some tips for tutors about delivering the support to such children:
First and foremost learn the art of motivating the child. To this closely study the child’s strengths and preferences. Try to find out if the child is getting enough scope to use them. Also see if there are confidence and self assurance in the pupil. Even if he is interested and has certain talents in sports, music or drama, encourage him participate in those. This will bring the confidence in him which will help him to pay attention to academic tasks too.
Don’t punish a pupil for poor grades. This will diminish the confidence and usher fear towards the subject. Keep high but reasonable expectations. Try to know his problems. For instance, if he does not do his homework, find out if they are too difficult for him; or if he is having problem about getting started. Help him out. The main hurdles to success are depression, family problems, negative peer influence, or a learning disability. Try to figure out if the pupil has any of the above. If so, take the required action.

Perhaps the most enduring belief about vocational education is that it’s only for the noncollege bound, the potential dropouts, or other students with special needs (Stone 1993). And this belief is not confined to students and their parents; it is often shared by other educators and policymakers (“What Do People Think of Us?” 1997)-perhaps explaining why postsecondary vocational-technical education scholarship money sometimes goes untapped (West 1996).

But do the facts bear it out?
No, they don’t. Almost all high school students take at least some vocational courses; 80 percent take at least one occupationally specific vocational course, and one in eight academic students actually takes more vocational courses than vocational students do. Furthermore, vocational education students enter postsecondary education at about the same rate as all high school graduates (Kober and Rentner 2000; Stone 1993), and vocational students with applied academics such as math and reading in high school are just as proficient as college-prep students.

Tracing the Gorillas in Rwanda

Encountering the last mountain gorillas face-to-face is one of the most memorable wildlife experiences I have ever known. Only a few hundred of these endangered giants survive in the remoter parts of the highlands shared between Rwanda, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Although the primates live in protected national parks, the Rwanda tourist office organises some restricted gorilla-tracking visits. I simply could not pass up such an opportunity! Even though the fee is hefty ($250 plus another $25 to enter the park), it is the price to pay for ecotourism, since the revenue goes towards conservation efforts and local community projects.
As soon as possible, I headed north from Kigali, the capital, on the “Virunga express”, a service of Toyota minivans commonly used as public transport. The only white person in the van, squeezed in between way more passengers than the van was conceived for, I spent the three-hour long ride admiring the view.
Known as the “land of thousand hills”, Rwanda is a country of understated beauty. Even the steepest hills are terraced, with tiny plots quilting the reddish-brown earth. Shimmering eucalyptus trees line the roads. Finally we reached the small town of Ruhengeri, above which loomed the huge mass of the Karisimbi volcano, turning blue in the late afternoon light.

Jet Airways India is an international airline that houses its main base in Mumbai, India. Their corporate website states they fly to 75 destinations, nationally and internationally, with “each connected every five minutes.” This airline is not actually that old, in terms of other companies in the industry–they had their inaugural commercial flight in 1993.

However, they have proceeded in a very aggressive manner to expand and improve on their services and itinerary. Jet Airways is widely known to be one of the most rapidly expanding airlines. The company services twenty-four destinations, internationally, with fifty-one locations within India. Let’s find out more about this up and coming airline.
While he was the owner of Jet air at the time, Naresh Goyal also established Jet Airways. For foreign airlines operating in India, his company was in charge of marketing and sales support. The original intent for Mr. Goyal’s establishment of Jet Airways was to create a competitor to Indian Airlines which is owned by the Indian government. Indian Airlines controlled the airlines from the early 1950s until 1994. The abolishing of the Air Corporations Act in 1994 made it so that Jet Airways could move forward and begin flight operations.

I am not a fan of atis. I tasted it once and have never eaten it again. The taste and texture is somewhat similar to guyabano but the latter is more delectable and the first has more seeds.
The following are the benefits we can get from the tree of an atis.
· The leaves are applied as a poultice to children with dyspepsia.
· Crushed seeds with coconut oil are applied on the scalp to rid it of lice.
· A decoction of the seeds is used as an enema for the children with dyspepsia.
· Externally the leaves, the unripe fruit, and the seeds (which contain acrid principle) possess vermicidal and insecticidal properties.
· The crushed seeds, in a paste with water, are applied to the scalp to destroy lice.
· The unripe fruit is astringent, and is given in diarrhea, dysentery and atonic dyspepsia.
· The bark, according to Nadkarni, is considered a powerful astringent and tonic.

Eating sugar-apple can supply an excellent amount of vitamin C, one of the potent anti-oxidants which may help decrease the risk of developing asthma, a common airway inflammation. Two sugar-apples can provide over half of the DV of fiber. Dietary fiber has shown to slow down the absorption of sugar in the body and a high fiber diet has been linked with a lower risk of developing type-2 diabetes.

Friday the 13th- Fear of Phobia?

The only day in the year, on which individuals may suffer from ‘paraskevidekatriaphobia’, is Friday, the 13th, which installs a morbid, irrational fear in some. With Friday the 13th looming on the horizon, some people may want to change a schedule or appointment to avoid bad luck, but regardless of whether someone is superstitious or not, it is safe to assume that there will be some people who will avoid black cats and ladders on Friday the 13th, just in case.
The question remains whether paraskevidekatriaphobia is a genuine phobia or a fear. Dr. Britta Ostermeyer, Chief of Psychiatry at the Ben Taub General Hospital and the Harris County Hospital District, who is also an associate professor of Psychiatry and Family Community Medicine at the Baylor College of Medicine explained:
“It’s in our nature to do what other people in our environment do. If we see that other people are concerned about certain events, we tend to become concerned as well.”

“The Artist” is a black-and-white homage to classic Hollywood that is, for most of its running time, completely silent. It’s collected a mantel of best-picture trophies, including a Golden Globe for best musical or comedy and is the front-runner for the best picture Oscar.

The melodrama about a silent film star clinging to the past doesn’t belong at the top of the best picture lists. There are some nice moments here, but it’s a thoroughly middle-of-the-road film, and there isn’t enough material to sustain a motion picture.
The plot has been told a hundred times, most spectacularly in the 1954 musical “A Star is Born” starring Judy Garland and James Mason, about an alcoholic old star mentoring the up-and-coming ingénue in her meteoric rise to stardom.
